Introduction to Blueprint Reading
Every Tuesday starting February 1st until March 8th

The Introduction to Blueprint Reading course is geared for those with limited or no blueprint reading experience. Both field and office personnel are encouraged to participate.
Upon completion of the six-week course, participants will be able to:
• Interpret line conventions, abbreviations and symbols
• Understand the different scales used on drawings and recognize the difference between architect’s scale and engineer’s scale drawings
• Read and interpret the notes and schedules located on drawings
• Review and understand basic construction drawings including plan views, elevations, sections and details
• Perform coordination exercises using several drawings, for example, coordination between architectural and structural drawings
• Perform simple quantity take-off exercises
Each participant is responsible to bring a yellow highlighter and pencil or pen to make notes on the blueprints. Notebooks to record personal observations are optional.
*Minimum of 10 participants required to run the course.
